Ella Zammit has karting in her DNA – her father Matthew has left his mark in hill climbs and she is related to well-known racer Zach Zammit. Ella also competed in the last FIA games, and since then has been training abroad. Zammit won the intervarsity karting championship in Ireland and is the only member on the endurance team who will be competing again, as it will be Ryan Borg and Micah Scicluna’s first time at the games. Zammit is the only woman competing in this year’s games and has made a name for herself as one of the most promising talents in the local karting scene.

Dean Vella, meanwhile, is Malta’s champion sim racer who has won multiple sim competitions including the Malta National sim Racing Championships in 2022 and 2024. Vella competed in the 2022 FIA games as well. Vella spends hours practising and prepping before a race, focusing on the mental side of things as of recent and also looking at post-race data analysis to see what he can improve on next time round.
