Gianluca Barbara Claims Gold Medal At International Taekwondo Competition
Iron Taekwondo League’s (ITL)Gianluca Barbara won the gold medal at the International Becketal Cup that was held between 14th and 15th June in Germany.
“ITL had another eventful experience in Gummersbach, Germany with one gold medal claimed in the Masters- 80 kilogram division,” wrote ITL and Barbara in a post on social media.
Barbara reached the final of the competition after receiving a walkover for his semi-final match. The Maltese fighter secured his win with a glorious spinning hook kick against his German opponent from the renowned club Sportverein Bayer Wuppertal.
This was not the first time that Barbara claimed the gold medal in the 80 kilogram division, in fact, this medal is the eighth claimed in the masters division since 2024.

“We must also praise the efforts and give thanks to German coach Klein whose efforts led Gianluca Barbara to the win on the day,” continued the post on social media.
Both ITL and Barbara went on to thank “all the staff, volunteers and organisers who catered for the impeccable order of the day(s), including the warm reception of athletes who helped us on the day.”
