Trap shooter Gianluca Chetcuti has clinched the top title at this year’s Gorg Bugeja Memorial Grand Prix, showing off serious precision and consistency.

The event, held over two days at the Qormi Clay Shooting Club, saw Malta’s top shooters face off against 125 qualifying targets each before entering the final stage. Chetcuti not only topped the qualification round with a sharp 119/125, but followed it up with a stellar 47/50 in the finals to claim first place overall.

He was joined on the podium by Emmanuel Bugeja in second place (41/50) and Brian Galea who took third (29/40). Other finalists included Mario Buhagiar, Jean Pierre Coleiro, and James Jr Galea.

Chetcuti also dominated the A Class category and shot a perfect 50/50 on Day 2, following a strong 69/75 on Day 1. Meanwhile, Paul Formosa emerged as the top shooter in Class C and took the win in Barrage B after a tense shoot-off.

Honours also went to Ryan Bugeja, who was named Best Junior, and John Marmara, who topped the Veterans Category.

Up next for Malta’s trap shooting scene? The MSSF Trap Competition (T3) hits Southern Shooting Club in Ħal Far on 20th July.
