It’s Freezing Out Here: Scott Flakey’s Win One Of The Coldest Amateur Fights Of Fight Island Night

From two debut fights, to local boxers continuing to establish their names, Fight Island served great and entertaining amateur fights all night.

Bulletproof’s Scott ‘Flakey’ Schembri and Love Island’s Andriy John took on their ‘Project 360’ challenge at the beginning of this year, aiming at becoming pro boxers by the end.

Their debut fights caused quite the controversy in the boxing community, and all eyes were on them to see whether all their intense training had paid off.

Andriy persisted throughout his three rounds, despite it being his debut. While the Islander put up a fight, he was defeated by Nizar Gweleg. Scott, on the other hand, emerged victorious against Shayon, a prediction he gave before the fight.

“Easy win tonight, will definitely knock this guy down by the second round, then I’ll come for Steve Martin,” Scott said.

Max Galea has also been making waves in the local boxing scene. His win last night against ‘Ic-Cippu’ was just one of the wins on his amateur fight list.

The current Maltese Amateur National Champion Carlos Ray Cooke also secured a win, against amateur fighter Sven. Carlos Ray is none other than Stephen Cooke’s son, one of Scott and Andriy’s coaches.

The only female fight of the night, Clara vs Khloe, resulted in a tie, after both women persisted throughout all rounds.

Entertainment was also far from lacking, with artists El Ferr and Ben Miller performing live for Max Galea’s and Scott Schembri’s walk outs just before their fights.
