Luca Vella And Amy Micallef Win At Garmin BSJ Open Water Swimming Championships In Cirkewwa

Luca Vella and Amy Micallef emerged victorious in the second race of the Garmin BSJ Open Water Swimming Championships, hosted by the Birkirkara St Joseph Sports Club in Ċirkewwa.

Vella and Micallef each earned the day’s top honours in the 2km race, with the event consisting of one loop along the scenic coastline of Cirkewwa.

Despite slight currents on the return leg of the course, the weather conditions were nearly perfect, making for a memorable debut of this location in the Open Water Championships.

Luca Vella took first place, outpacing second-place finisher Sam Camilleri and Giuseppe Borg, who came in third. Meanwhile, Amy Micallef continued her winning streak, finishing fourth overall.

Martina Micallef followed in second place, and Keira Balzan Hili, who celebrated her first appearance on the Open Water Swimming Championships podium, took the third spot.

Mark Gaglione, a representative of the event’s sponsor, Garmin Malta, presented the medals to the top three winners.

The Garmin BSJ Open Water Swimming Championships are conducted under the aegis of the Aquatic Sports Association of Malta. The club expressed gratitude to the Paradise Bay Hotel for their invaluable support in hosting the event.
