Luke Farrugia Makes Maltese Motorsport History

Luke Farrugia is crowned as the first Maltese rider to win in the Super Street Bike class within the Motorsport Euro Finals at Santa Pod.
From the very first qualifying round, Luke and his team demonstrated their intent, dominating the early stages and securing the top two positions before ultimately qualifying third.
The chase for both the event win and the championship intensified. With composure and determination, Luke methodically worked his way through the competition, taking down opponents one by one. In the final round, he capped off an extraordinary performance with a personal best of 6.64 seconds at 355.67 kilometres per hour, securing victory in style.

Though he narrowly missed out on the FIM Championship title by just a single point, Luke’s performance has firmly placed him in second place on the FIM Super Street Bike quickest riders list and secured him the runner-up spot in the championship standings.
This remarkable achievement was made possible by a dedicated team behind the scenes. Simon Giordmaina’s skill in building a high-performance machine, Jason Borg’s meticulous work in maintaining the bike at peak condition, and Luke Farrugia’s exceptional riding capabilities all combined to deliver this historic success.
The Malta Drag Racing Association (MDRA) took to social media to congratulate Farrugia and his team. It went on to write how the association proudly continues to provide the platform for testing, development, and growth, paving the way for Maltese riders to develop their skills.
