Birżebbuġa Sailing Club sailors made Malta proud at the ILCA Balatonfüred Europa Cup in Hungary, securing three podium finishes against top European talent.

Rising star Isaac Azzopardi claimed silver in the Under-16 category and bronze overall in ILCA 4, while Emily Fenech impressed with a silver medal among female competitors in ILCA 4. Both sailors, who began their journeys in the Optimist class, continue to showcase the success of the Club’s strong development programs.

“Well done to our Sailors who raced at the Balatonfured Europa Cup,” wrote Birżebbuġa Sailing Club on social media.

The team was guided by Coach Mario Aquilina who is a two-time Olympian and Club Commodore, together with Team Leader Jason Spiteri. Teammates Jacob Azzopardi, Krista Spiteri, and Lacey Aquilina also delivered strong performances, further highlighting Malta’s growing sailing talent.

The Club expressed its gratitude to its sponsors, the Malta Sailing Federation, Maltese Olympic Committee, and BeActive – SportMalta for their continued support, which allows young Maltese sailors to compete and succeed on the European stage.
