The Malta Football Players Association (MFPA) together with the Malta Football Association has outlined a commitment to develop a maternal and early childhood support policy for the women’s national team.

This is part of an agreement to revise a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the women’s national team players.

“The MOU is another step in the right direction as it provides further enhancements from the agreement signed two years ago,” women’s national team captain Emma Lipman said.

The MOU was initially signed in 2021 and this revision is supposed to represent a “significant step forward for women’s football” as it addresses important issues like childcare.

The organisations also drafted an agreement over financial remuneration and performance-based bonuses for the UEFA Women’s Nations League competition.

They’ve also committed to setting out a defined timeframe to carry out medical procedures for any player who sustains an injury that requires surgery while representing the women’s national team.

And overall, the organisations are determined to improve conditions and bolster incentives for the women’s football players who are called up to the senior national squad for official international matches.
