The Taekwondo Invitational Small States Games came to a close with massive success for the Maltese teams.

The event was hosted on our home turf last weekend and saw the participation of fighters from 17 European countries, with 34 athletes from two distinguished Taekwondo academies representing Malta.

From the event, Malta’s teams emerged successful with a whopping 16 golds, 14 silvers and eight bronze medals.

Some of the golds were snagged by athletes as young as 12 years old, with three Year 9 students from the National Sport School (NSS) as well as Michela Scerri from the Iron Taekwondo League (ITL), who made history last month by qualifying for the Junior Grand Prix finals.

The teams were led by devoted coaches, Mauro Busuttil from Dragon Academy Malta (DAM), Ditmir Vodinaj and Jovo Mirkovic from the Iron Taekwondo League as well as Gianluca Barbara of both NSS and ITL, who snagged a gold for the Masters age group alongside Lounes Beroual.

Congratulations to all athletes involved!
