Malta’s Football Team Wins 1-0 Against San Marino
Malta’s football team won 1-0 against San Marino last night in a UEFA Nations League match at Ta’ Qali’s national stadium.
The winning goal was delivered by Zach Muscat in the second half, securing Malta’s win.
Throughout the match, the local team had around 70% of ball possession, however, San Marino’s team had a tight defence.
No goals were seen in the first half, with Ryan Camenzuli’s first attempt at goal with a great cross from the left being blocked by goalkeeper Elia Benedittini.
Muscat’s winning goal in turn gave three points to Malta’s team, reaching a more balanced score after the last loss against Estonia.
Prior to the game, the team also gave a moment of silence in memory of national team kit manager Mark Piscopo, known as il-Lullu, who passed away on Friday.
The result means that Malta’s move draws on points with Estonia at the top of Group D2 in the UEFA Nations League. Estonia, however, has a game in hand with both teams set to face off in Estonia in September.
Well done team Malta!
