Maltese Teenage Football Star Signs With Seria A Side Hellas Verona
Maltese youth footballer Kailey Willis will take her talents abroad after signing with Seria A side Hellas Verona.
The 17-year-old will spend the rest of the 2020/21 season with the Verona based club who currently sits in 8th place between Inter Milan and Lazio.
The Maltese striker made a name for herself with her now-former club Birkirkara where, over two seasons, she scored 26 goals in 35 games. She also became the team’s top goal scorer throughout the 2018/19 season with a total of 19 goals.
One of her highlights includes an out-of-the-box long-range strike that found the bottom right-hand corner.
Willis will join an exclusive club of Maltese women playing football abroad and will become the sixth Maltese player to feature in Italian leagues alongside Emma Lipman and Rachel Cuschieri for Lazio, Martina Borg of Sassari Torres, Nicole Scibberas who is playing at Juventus and Sassuolo starlet Haley Bugeja.
Many took to social media to congratulate Willis and to wish her well on her new adventure.
