Malta’s awesome national triathlete Hannah Cutajar dominated her race yesterday and broke several Maltese records in the process.

Hannah competed at the European Triathlon Age Group Sprint Championships in Kazan, Russia where she became the first Maltese to not only take Gold in her age group but also win the overall race.

Hannah was up against strong competition but showed her dominance from the very start, leading the of the 750m swim with Great Britain’s Hayley Rigby hot on her heels.

Rigby took the lead in the second transition but quickly lost it to Cutajar’s well-executed run, which handed her back the lead to finish the race with a time of one hour, seven minutes and seventeen seconds.

Coming in second and third were GB’s Rigby and Holly Dixon who didn’t cross the finish line until a minute and fourteen seconds after Cutajar.

I never looked back till I crossed the finish line and it was only then that it all hit me,” Hannah commented when speaking to GuideMeMalta“I last won my age group at European championships in 2013 in Turkey. I’ve been chasing gold ever since.”

Cutajar adds this achievement to her already impressive sporting CV and we can’t wait to see where her career takes her next.
