Maltese Ultra-Runner Will Attempt To Complete Five Gruelling Ironman Marathons In Just Five Days This Week
Maltese super-human and ultra-triathlete Fabio Spiteri is once again pushing his body to extreme limits with his latest challenge.
After conquering both Malta and Gozo (several times) Fabio is now overseas to complete what may be his most mentally challenging and physically grueling challenge yet…. a quintuple ironman.
Fabio is competing in five Ironman’s triathlons at the Swiss Ultra Triathalon in just five days.
That’s one Ironman (which lasts about 12 hours) per day for five days; which is approximately a total of 60 hours of straight swimming, riding and running over 120 hours.
To put things more into perspective, these are the distances Fabio will have to cover every day…
The Swill Ultra is being held at Buchs SG, Switzerland and Fabio has already completed day one, securing fourth place with a time of 12 hrs and 23 minutes…
In typical Fabio fashion, he’s attempting to complete a feat no Maltese person has done before and he’s joined by a select few people from around the world…
The Quintuple will undoubtedly be one of the toughest challenges of his over-two-decade athletic career. In preparation for the challenge, Fabio has tailored his training to push his body to peak performance for the race with a change in schedule that consisted of a five-day bulk training followed by complete rest.
With a dedicated team to support him, we have no doubt that he’ll pull through!
