Maltese Weightlifting Star Tenishia Thornton Wins Atlas Youth Athlete Of The Year For The Third Time
Maltese weightlifting sensation Tenishia Thornton has done it again! The 19-year-old powerhouse has been crowned Atlas Youth Athlete of the Year 2024, marking her third win after claiming the title in 2020 and 2022.
Thornton secured the prestigious award through a combined vote from sports journalists and the public, beating out Blackball duo Jake Castaldi & Dielyn Edwards and young sailor Katrina Micallef.

Thornton’s win comes after a massive year, where she was crowned European Champion at the European Junior Championships in Warsaw, Poland.
“I am incredibly grateful to receive this award for the third time! Knowing that our hard work is being recognised and appreciated means more than words can express,” said Thornton, thanking her coach, family, and supporters for standing by her side.
