‘My Maltese Friends Have Outdone Themselves!’: Buffon Shouts Out Massive Ħamrun Chocolate Festival Statue Dedicated To Him
One of the best goalkeepers ever has been immortalised in a slightly different way… through a massive chocolate statue in Ħamrun.
“My Maltese friends have truly outdone themselves,” Gianlugi Buffon wrote on Instagram this morning, sharing photos of the statue unveiled during yesterday’s Ħamrun Chocolate Festival, the 14th edition of the beloved festival. “This time, they’ve left me without words: a chocolate Buffon… who would’ve ever thought?”
The massive statue, which sees Buffon’s gear adorned in golden chocolate worthy of the Italian footballing legend, was made by none other than Tiziano Cassar, a Maltese chocolatier who’s become known for his incredible culinary masterpieces.

Last year, Cassar had gone viral worldwide with two massive chocolate statues, one of Russell Crowe which was featured on The Guardian and praised by the Oscar-winning star himself, and a huge recreation of the iconic Mickey Mouse.
Clearly, there’s no stopping Cassar, with the chocolatier only going from strength to strength every year!
