Next Stop, Spain! Pros, Coaches And Recreational Players Face Off In Padel Malta’s International Tournament
An international padel tournament has just chosen the best Malta has to offer in the sport, with the winners now set to fly to Spain next year for the main event of the series.
Padel Malta played host to the Madison International Padel tournament last weekend, bringing together tennis coaches, elite veterans and recreational players alike.

The female category proved just this, with the finalists comprising of recreational players Katja Brandt and Ivana Katavic going up against Paula Garbisu (coach at IK Padel Malta), and Ivana Kubicova (tennis coach and co-founder at IK Tennis and IK Padel). The latter team won.
Meanwhile, in the male finals, Padel Malta coaches Borja Jimenez and Lucas Llanos succumbed to IK Padel coaches David Perez and Santi Labrador. 2024 marks Santi’s fourth year in a row winning this tournament, and as someone who even won the main event in Spain on his second attempt, his participation in March 2025 alongside Perez is definitely one to watch.
The male category also saw some big names participating in the semi-finals, such as Abdala Elian , who is considered one of the best players in Malta. Abdala played alongside his friend Sharlon Pace, who he also coaches and was the only entrant who isn’t a coach of either Padel Malta, IK Padel or Marsa Sports Club.
