‘Playing Blindfolded’: Moldovan Fans Criticise Team After Malta Defeat

Moldovan supporters expressed their frustration at their team’s performance after falling to a 1-0 defeat to Malta last night.

As Maltese supporters celebrated the victory, Moldovans had harsh words for their team when analysing the game on social media.

“I forced myself to watch this mess of a match until the end but it was like watching a different sport,” one person said.

“So pathetic, weak and stupid. No ideas except for balls over the top and middle-school level mistakes.”

Another supporter mockingly commented that even schoolchildren pass the ball more precisely than the way the Moldovans did last night.

“Weak, weak, weak. If this is how we play, then we deserve to stay in League D,” another person said.

“We should have expected this; we always seem to get confused in easy games,” another one added.

Some warned the team severely missed their star striker Ion Nicolaescu and others took a more positive approach by saying they’re glad Teddy Teuma missed a penalty in injury time to maintain Moldova’s superior goal difference over Malta going into the final game of the group.

Malta and Moldova are now level on six points which means there is everything to play for going into the final game of Group 2 in League D.

Should Moldova fail to defeat Andorra on 16th November, then Malta will qualify as group winners with a victory over Andorra on 19th November.

Should Malta finish second, they will face one of the two best-ranked fourth-place teams in League C in a play-off match.
