Skaters Build Ramps For Red Bull Skateboarding Event With A Shot At Prizes Worth €100

The street sport and skating community will be rocking a Red Bull Mind The Gap event in Msida Square this Saturday evening – with over 30 participants already registered to go head to head and toe to toe pulling out their best trick to air the biggest possible gap.

A €100 Urban Jungle voucher will be awarded to winners from each of three categories.

Anyone can attend to watch airborne bodies throw shapes while boards mesmerise the masses with flips and spins before slamming back down – or landing gently and quietly – but if we’re honest that tends to happen a little less often.

Brace for graceful impact.

Karl Naja, founder of the Malta Street Sports Association told Lovin Malta:

“These sort of activities, especially in public squares, bring the community together through sport, promoting physical activity and a healthy lifestyle – apart from inspiring our youth to believe that they can achieve great things through activity.”

Red Bull’s Mind The Gap events have brought street sport athletes together across the world, always yielding excitement which showcases local talent, concrete courage and tarmac tenacity as skaters fire themselves across a gap between ramps – built by local street sports organisers – in style.

The event will have three categories, first for beginners, followed by the women’s competition, and concluding with an advanced level category.

Spectators and competitors alike will be regaled by thrilling tunes from the event’s DJ Depth.

The event was organised by the Malta Street Sports Association in collaboration with the Malta Skateboarding Association and Urban Jungle. More information about the event’s schedule can be found here.
