Starlites basketball coach Paul Ferrante has apologised for tripping Hibernians player Derek Brown in a final last weekend and admitted that his actions weren’t justifiable.

I would like to express my apology for the episode that happened in the starting minutes of last Sunday’s KO final vs Hibs,” Ferrante said.

“My reaction was a result of an episode which happened some seconds earlier in the same game, an incident which I highlighted during my disciplinary hearing at the Malta Basketball Association.”

“My reaction is not justifiable for any reason whatsoever and deserves a consequence.”

The Malta Basketball Association has initiated disciplinary proceedings against Ferrante, as well against Brown for alleging after the game that cheated so that they could make money through bets.
