In the Clean and Jerk, she began with a solid 106kg, followed by a successful 109kg, but narrowly missed her final attempt at 112kg, achieving a remarkable total of 197kg.
These results secured Tenishia 1st place in the Seniors 64kg category, 1st place overall in the Junior division, and 3rd place in the overall Seniors.
“The last time I competed in this event was back in 2019, when I won the U15 girls category. This particular competition was actually my second international competition ever, so being back here and winning these titles just brought back so many beautiful memories and made the overall experience much more special,” Thornton told Lovin Malta.
This competition was crucial in Thornton’s preparation ahead of the IWF Junior World Championships taking place in Leon, Spain this September.
The competition saw the participation of athletes from 16 different countries, with Thornton representing Malta.
Well done Tenishia Thornton!
