Watch Live: Francesca Curmi Takes On America’s Kessler At Prestigious French Tennis Tournament’s Round Of 16

It’s been an incredible week for Maltese female athletes kicking ass abroad… and now, it’s time for the islands’ tennis starlet to take centre stage (or should we say court?).
21-year-old Francesca Curmi is currently taking on America’s McCartney Kessler at the WTA 125K Angers, a prestigious tournament in France with a €125,000 total prize money pot.
Curmi came up against Romania’s Patricia Maria Tig on Monday, and was clearly not deterred by her opponent’s career-high 56th ranking. Eventually, the rounds finished 5-7, 6-0 and 2-3 (Tig retired), with the 21-year-old Maltese starlet now through to the Final Round of 16.
You can follow Francesca Curmi’s match – which is set to begin shortly, right after the one between Soboleva and Mitu – live right here.
Held at Trélazé’s Arena Loire, the WTA Open has seen a number of people follow Curmi closely, with the young Maltese athlete starting to form a solid fanbase in France.
Just yesterday, in fact, even with Curmi not playing today, she was used in two separate posts on the @open.angerssocials as the poster athlete, showing just how far she’s come and how beloved she is within the international tennis circles.
And after last night’s historic achievement by Malta’s female national football team, it’s been a great week to watch our local athletes takes to stadiums and courts on the international stage.
Send this to someone who needs to follow Curmi on her amazing tennis trajectory!
