Surf’s up, time’s up! Malta Surf & Sup Association’s Summer Snap season came to a spectacular close with Sky Howes being crowned as the winner.

The event saw 20 participants duking it out on the waves in a five-round tournament at Għajn Tuffieħa on 14th September. The goals of the surfers were to gain as many points as possible by performing wicked manoeuvres to hype up the crowd and judges. The Maltese September weather proved to be useful for once, with the winds creating optimal waves for surfing.

The lineup was a mishmash of international and local surf sensations. Surfers were being eliminated slowly but surely, with only the best of the best making it to the final rounds.

The competition ended with a high-octane battle between up-and-comer Sky Howes and Malta Surf School founder, Valerio Cicconi. The international duo were neck and neck but ultimately Sky scored the highest result and was deemed the winner.

Cheers roared across the beach with a beautiful display of comradery between surfers as pats on the back and hugs were in order, officially bringing the Snap to a close.

Congratulations to Sky and all the other surfers on their fantastic performance.
