Local athlete Sana Grillo has just secured the first national record for Malta in the Senior Indoor Pole Vault sport.

She completed this impressive feat while at a sports meet in London, where she reached 3.41 metres and ticked one of her season 2024 goals.

“I am super excited to get back to training and start preparations for outdoor season to improve my heights further,” Sana told Lovin Malta.

Despite the accomplishment, Sana did admit that she generally jumps a lot higher.

“This height definitely does not represent my full capabilities as I typically jump much higher… This year was my first season jumping at indoor competitions and it didn’t go so well for me. Moreover this competition was my last attempt to establish the national record so I decided to play it safe.”

She competed at the Vault London Indoor Pole Vault competition, organised by Woodford Green A.C. at the Lee Valley Athletics centre in London.

Back in September of last year, Sana went viral on social media amassing millions of views and thousands of comments on international platforms that uploaded a compilation of the Maltese athlete absolutely kicking ass at her beloved sport.

Sana will soon start preparations for the outdoor season – one we’re sure she’ll smash too.

Congratulations Sana!
