Win for Floriana And Draw for Marsaxlokk As Conference League Gets Underway
The 2024-2025 UEFA Conference League kicked off last night and it was a positive start for Maltese sides.
Floriana were home against San Marino’s Tre Penne and fell behind in the 50th minute.
However, they quickly rallied their troops and scored three goals through Kyrian Nwoko, Dunstan Vella, and Thiago Nascimento dos Santos, giving them an advantage going into the second leg.
Meanwhile, Marsaxlokk played away against Albania’s Partizani. The Maltese side conceded a goal very early on, but Yuri grabbed the equaliser in the 15th minute and the game finished all square.
If Floriana make it through to the next round, they will face an extremely tough opponent in Portugal’s Vitória de Guimarães, who finished fifth in the Primiera Liga last season.
Marsaxlokk have a potential game against Georgia’s Iberia 1999 to look forward to.
