Apple Unveils Vision Pro, Its Debut Augmented Reality Headset, Priced At €3,200
Apple has recently announced its entry into the augmented reality (AR) market with a new headset, the Apple Vision Pro.
At a starting price of €3,200, the headset will launch initially in the United States, with other markets to follow later in the year.
But what the is Augmented Reality? Augmented Reality is a new technology that allows for digital objects and information to be viewed in your reality.
Described by CEO Tim Cook as the “first Apple product you look through, and not at,” the Vision Pro offers a seamless blend of the real and digital worlds, akin to looking through a pair of ski goggles.
The Vision Pro is primarily positioned as an AR device, but can also switch to full virtual reality (VR) capabilities. A simple twist of a dial can switch the device between augmented and virtual reality modes, providing a versatile experience for users.
The headset also accepts voice commands, and Apple has assured that “hundreds of thousands of familiar iPhone and iPad apps” will be compatible with this new mode of interaction.
Apple’s innovative venture into the AR/VR market with the Vision Pro signals an exciting phase in immersive technology, offering a glimpse of what the future of digital interaction could look like.
