Bolt’s New Electric Three-Wheel ‘Traffic Buster’ Cabs Take To The Streets Of Malta

When you’re out and about, keep an eye open for the newest addition to Malta’s expansive automotive fleet.

Bolt and Buzzz Electric have joined forces to launch a new, fully electric, three-wheeled vehicle.

The Carver vehicle – which looks like the sleek byproduct of a cross between the iconic Sicilian Piaggio Ape and a fully electrified future – has now taken to Malta’s often chaotic streets.

“This is not a car. This is not a scooter. This is the Carver. A 100% electric city vehicle, perfect for commuting and short journeys,” the Carver website states of the vehicle.

Given that travel distances in Malta are quite short relative to those faced by commuters in larger countries, the 100km range of Bolt and Buzzz Electric’s new Carvers will not be nearly as limiting in Malta as they are elsewhere .

While the Carver is capable of reaching speeds of around 80 kilometres per hour, it is intended to be used as a vehicle that will more efficiently navigate narrow streets.

The Carver is particular in its patented tilting mechanism – which allows up to two passengers along with some cargo – to remain upright even whilst making sharp turns.

Bolt and Buzzz Electric are excited about this vehicle as a way of increasing efficient connectivity without contributing to air pollution. Operation of these electric vehicles will not emit greenhouse gases directly, and being smaller and narrower than a car, it is hoped that they will be able to get around traffic congestion.

Those seeking to travel in a vehicle designed to weave through narrow streets and stagnant traffic alike should look out for Bolt’s “Traffic Buster” category.

Carvers are designed and developed in the Netherlands and produced in Southeast Asia, before they make their way to Malta. The company was founded with intent to reshape “the face of urban mobility forever”.

Do you think this three-wheeler will be changing your relationship with urban mobility?
