Malta Powers Greece: eCabs Takes App Tech Platform To Athens
eCabs Technologies is gearing up for the launch of its ride-hailing platform in Athens, this September, marking a significant expansion of its technological capabilities beyond Malta’s shores.
The taxi. gr app, developed at eCabs’ headquarters in St Julian’s, offers an effortless online ride-hailing solution for passengers and a secure and adaptable source of income for drivers, granting people the freedom to move and work on their own schedules.
Athens will serve as the first location for the rollout of eCabs Technologies’ ride-hailing platform, with additional global regions also in the pipeline.
The Founder and CEO of eCabs Technologies, Matthew Bezzina, emphasised that the Athens launch is the accumulation of extensive research, development, and fruitful collaboration with Greek partners. The taxi. gr platform is set to play a pivotal role in shaping the digital transformation of the ride-hailing landscape in Greece.
Bezzina said in a press release, “Our accomplishments and the evolution of the company fill us with pride. Having grown eCabs from a modest three-person startup in 2010 to a conglomerate employing over 400 individuals, we’ve transitioned into a technology-driven enterprise with industry-leading expertise.”
The transportation market in Athens presents an opportunity for digitalisation, boasting a population exceeding 3 million and welcoming over 6 million tourists per year.
A significant proportion of rides in Greece continue to be hailed curbside or booked by phone, underscoring the offline nature of the current ride-hailing options.
“At eCabs Technologies, we believe that digitising the transportation sector can unlock its full potential, a vision we tirelessly work towards,” Bezzina emphasised,” Venturing into new and exciting regions like Athens is a crucial stride towards realizing this aspiration.”
“This marks an exhilarating phase for us – eCabs is transitioning from local to international, empowering ride-hailing by transcending our domestic boundaries, one partnership at a time,” Mattew declared, encapsulating the exciting expansion of eCabs.
