New AI Chatbot Tries To Write Robert Abela’s And Bernard Grech’s Abortion Bill Speeches

A new AI chatbot has taken the world by storm, with its stunningly human-like responses seeing it hailed as one of the greatest technological breakthroughs in recent years while raising several ethical implications.
ChatGPT, the brainchild of the California-based OpenAI Foundation, can write and debug code, create online content, answer customer inquiries and provide recommendations, leading to questions as to whether it could eventually replace or complement some human jobs.
To test out its limits, we tried to get ChatGPT to replicate the speeches recently delivered by Prime Minister Robert Abela and Opposition Leader Bernard Grech on the abortion bill that is currently being debated in Parliament.
This is what it came up with for Abela.

And this is what it came up with for Grech.

While some errors were evident – the chatbot ignored our prompt to throw in a pun at Prudente’s surname as the real Bernard Grech did – you can’t deny that the logical accuracy of its arguments is uncanny.
ChatGPT has been trained on a massive amount of text data sourced from the internet.
Although it is still a prototype, early users have described it as a potential future alternative to Google, given its ability to provide detailed and complex responses to queries and prompts.
It has certainly proven popular, attracting a million users within five days, which is particularly impressive seeing as it took the likes of Instagram three months and Facebook ten months to reach that level of engagement.
