Malta’s EV game just got a major boost. Schneider Electric and GasanZammit Motors Ltd have joined forces to roll out smarter, future-ready charging solutions for electric vehicles, making the switch to green motoring easier than ever.

The first-of-its-kind collaboration is all about combining global expertise with local know-how. Schneider Electric brings decades of experience in energy and automation, while GasanZammit Motors knows the ins and outs of Malta’s roads, cars, and drivers. Together, they’re launching a project called “Go Electric”, designed to accelerate EV adoption across the island.

Starting 1st August, every customer who buys an EV through GasanZammit will receive a free Schneider Electric home charger. That means you can plug in, power up, and drive clean without worrying about hunting for charging points.

The chargers themselves are built to handle it all: Type 2 compatible, solar-ready, weatherproof, and smart enough to let you schedule and monitor your charging straight from your phone. Whether you’re topping up at home or integrating solar power, the chargers adapt to your lifestyle.

Commenting on this partnership, Sebastien Riez, CEO of Schneider Electric Northeast
Africa, Levant and Malta, said,

“At Schneider Electric, partnerships are part of our DNA, deeply intertwined with our commitment to building a more sustainable and digitally connected world, and central to how we drive impact. Our collaboration with GasanZammit Motors exemplifies this approach in action. Together, we are accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles and co-developing resilient, energy-efficient infrastructure tailored to Malta’s journey toward smart and green mobility. This partnership reinforces our role as a trusted digital partner in the country’s energy transition, shaping a smarter, greener, and more sustainable future.”

“For us at GZ Ltd, this collaboration goes beyond technology, it’s about making sustainable mobility accessible to more people in Malta. By partnering with Schneider Electric, we’re ensuring that our customers not only have access to leading EV models but also to the charging infrastructure that makes the switch practical, convenient, and future-ready. It’s a milestone that underlines our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and supporting Malta’s green ambitions,” CEO of GasanZammit Motors Ltd, Stefan Deguara added.

With Malta aiming for greener, smarter transport, this partnership is exactly the kind of move that could make EVs the new normal, and maybe even make your neighbours a little jealous of your hassle-free home charging setup.
