This New Futuristic Malta-Based Token Will Actually Let You Influence Juventus
Superstar Italian football team Juventus is launching an official Juventus fan token to allow its global fan base to influence some of the team’s decisions via a smartphone app – and it is teaming up with Maltese company Socios.com to do so.
Juventus’ fans will have the chance to purchase specialised tokens through an innovative scheme known as a Fan Token Offering as early as the first few months of 2019, and people are already getting excited at the potential prospects this new technology could open up.
“Juventus is glad to welcome Socios.com to our partners. At the club we are always very careful and pro-active towards innovation and new technologies. Together with Socios.com we believe we can offer new opportunities to our worldwide fan base to engage in cutting-edge way with their favourite club,” said Giorgio Ricci, co-chief revenue officer and head of global partnerships and corporate revenues of Juventus.
“As one of the biggest and most successful football clubs in the world, I am delighted that Juventus has chosen to work with Socios.com, and to seek the rewards that our innovative blockchain technology has to offer,” said Alexandre Dreyfus, CEO and founder of Socios.com.
The announcement comes just days after Socios announced their partnership with French team PSG
Socios specialises in the online fan voting concept that was recently adopted by teams like Real Madrid and Barcelona. The system allows fans to engage with decisions their favourite teams make using a specific blockchain currency.
The company is powered by a Maltese sports blockchain venture called chiliZ, which is backed by high-profile players in the blockchain industry such as crypto-trading giant Binance and Ethereum co-founder Stephen Nerayoff and has already raised some $65 million.
With more than 340 million supporters worldwide and a global, digital fan base that exceeds 60 million across social media platforms, the launch of the Juventus official fan token is set to evolve the club’s global fan engagement strategy and expand their global audience, in particular, bringing million of fans that are based outside of Europe closer to the real fan experience.
