Watch: ‘Viva Malta U L-Ħamruniżi! – Ben Camille Addresses Family Feud’s Ħamalli Controversy
As shit continues to hit the fan following yesterday’s Family Feud episode which inadvertently labelled people from Ħamrun as ħamalli (chavs), the show’s producer and presenter has issued a statement to address it all.
“The people of Ħamrun are ħamalli… that is not my personal opinion,” Ben Camillesaid in a short video message published moments ago. Ensuring everyone that the answer shared on yesterday’s episode doesn’t reflect his nor the team behind the show’s production’s personal opinions, Ben went on to say that if you were to take the game’s answers literally, then even if he would be considered a ħamallu.
“And it could be for some people, because I have a tattoo, and tattoos were mentioned on the list,” he said, smiling.

“Jokes aside, I have to honestly say that I’m happy to see such a passion in the Maltese population,” Camille said before reading comments from proud Ħamrun residents left on the videos of the show’s segment.
“That’s just the beauty of it, that everyone’s entitled to their own opinion and it’s totally up to us to set a value to those opinions,” he continued, “In my case, I give no value to the opinion that Ħamrun residents are ħamalli.”
He continued by showing his gratitude to his Ħamrun-based friends and fans and emphasised that he wished to cause to distress to those affected, apologising for anyone who got offended.
“It was not our intention to insult, offend or judge anyone,” he finished by stressing, “It is our intention to spread joy and share an hour of fun together.”
“Viva Malta u viva l-Ħamruniżi!”
