Watch: MasterChef Malta Judge Letizia Reveals Who She’d Employ In Her Kitchen… And It’s Not The Winner

MasterChef Season 1 may have ended with Nicolas Bezzina being crowned the winner… but it looks like judge Letizia Vella would actually employ another contestant in her kitchen.

“I think I would employ Sam,” Chef Vella told Lovin Malta’s Clara Sciberras in a new exclusive interview held inside the kitchen of The Golden Fork. “He displayed a lot of creativity. He wasn’t scared of doing things. He took the opportunity, he performed and then would say ‘this can either go good or go bad’.”

Sam did not make it to the semi final stages of the competition, but was still a favourite among many viewers and only failed to make it to the last stages by one week when he was eliminated alongside Pia.

The MasterChef judge also revealed who her favourite contestant was, and it’s none other than Ivan.

“His character really stood out,” Vella said. “Ivan had such a personality, he made us laugh every single day. He showed respect, when he made a mistake you could tell he was disappointed. He clearly loves this industry.”

Lovin Malta’s interview with Chef Letizia saw Clara trying to prepare an omelette for the master chef… and it’s safe to say things didn’t exactly go according to plan.

But hey – cooking is an art, so there’s room for a deconstructed omelette as a means of social commentary… right?!

Meanwhile, Clara also met with Nicolas Bezzina, the winner of MasterChef Malta’s first season, who exclusively revealed with Lovin Malta that he will be donating the €25,000 prize money to charity.

“My wife and I had discussed what I would do with the prize money at the start of the competition,” Bezzina said. “Luckily, both of us work and we’ve both been working for 20 years now.”
