The Next Emma Muscat? Young Maltese Singer Maxine Pace Called Up To Audition on Amici Talent Show
Could the current edition of Italy’s popular talent show Amici once again include a Maltese representative?
Maxine Pace, 19, will be hoping to emulate the recent success of Emma Muscat after she was asked to travel to Rome last week to audition.
“I had sent in an audition video, and the producers called me up last Monday to ask me whether I could fly down to Rome for a live audition on Wednesday,” Maxine told Lovin Malta.
Maxine performed three songs – Ariana Grande’s ‘Side to Side’, Fleur East’s ‘Sax’ and Jessie J’s ‘Do It Like A Dude’ – in front of a group of producers. The producers didn’t offer any hints as to whether she had passed the test, only telling her and other singers that they would hopefully receive a call to perform in a sfida next week.
Maxine contested the 2016 Malta Eurovision Song Contest, finishing in fifth place with the bubbly song ‘Young Love’. However, she will have her work cut out for her if she wants to do better in Amici than Emma Muscat, who had made it all the way to the semi-finals.
In Amici, a group of young artists live with each other inside a house under constant surveillance and compete against each other in singing, acting and dancing. Contestants are periodically voted off the show until one final talented act is left standing.
