Maltese politicians are in the final legs of their campaign to be elected as a European representative, but one Maltese woman might have just become the biggest winner in these elections after she won a Fiat Panda being offered in a Labour politician’s raffle.

A woman named Gabriella had entered PL MEP Joe Sammut’s car raffle for just €5, and it’s just been announced that she had the winning ticket – number 1869.

“According to law, the results of the Fiat Panda raffle must be published on Facebook,” Sammut said on social media earlier today. “Here are the results – I congratulate the winner!”

Lorna Vassallo has also offered free flights to Dubai and a stay in a five-star hotel to winners of her competition, while Sammut was keen to point out that his raffle was set up in aid of the Community Chest Fund.

One thing is for sure: as soon as we see Gabriella driving home in her new Panda, we’ll know for sure that Joe Sammut actually keeps his pledges.
