Hanging out at local art galleries not only broadens your horizon when it comes to art, but also offers you an amazing chance to unwind and filter out the noise.

1. The Mill, Birkirkara

The house of modern Maltese art was founded by the late father of contemporary art Gabriel Caruana. His work is housed at this mesmerising converted mill, so you’ll surely be satisfied with the quality and beauty of works exhibited.

This lovely gallery will not only delight your senses with its beauty, but it will also offer you a safe haven to properly contemplate visual arts.

2. Muża, Valletta

Ok so Muża is technically a museum, but it still houses some of the most beautiful works this island has ever seen.

This innovative museum runs on solar energy, but that’s not why you need to visit. This gallery is located inside the Auberge d’Italie, so apart from the cool art you’ll also be experiencing a bit of history.

3. Valletta Contemporary

The Valletta Contemporary is another spot dedicated to contemporary arts. It houses works from both local and international artists.

This art gallery has been part of Valletta’s regeneration and is often a prominent figure as a trigger for discussions and cultural discovery.

4. Bejta Artisan at the ta’ Nikol Gallery, Victoria

This Gozitan art gallery has a certain familiar feel to it which you’ll never fully understand.

There’s a certain warmth and charm here which will keep you intrigued by the many different styles presented. It’s an artisanal gallery which houses a mishmash of local artists in the heart of Victoria.

5. Blitz, Valletta

This art studio specialises in experimental and contemporary arts which challenge traditional ideas and concepts. This four floor gallery is an exceptional converted house which hosts exhibition galleries, a creative space, and an art studio.

6. Victor Pasmore Gallery, Valletta

This gallery is dedicated to Victor Pasmore, an abstract artist. It was originally a gunpowder magazine but in recent years it has been converted into a permanent exhibition space.

This was done following a collaboration between The Victor Pasmore Foundation and The Central Bank of Malta. It houses many of Pasmore’s incredible works which although not all of them were produced on the island, they’re still extremely representative of his work.

7. Christine X Art Gallery, Sliema

This gallery houses works which have a connection to our islands. Both local and foreign artists are featured at the gallery.

The displays are amusing to say the least and the atmosphere is a peaceful one which leaves you enough time to enjoy the works exhibited.
