9 Romantic Ideas For Date Night With Your Significant Other In Malta
If you’re looking to rekindle the flame, set the sparkler on fire, or just have a nice night out in Malta, then you’ve come to the right place.
We’re here to help you decide what to do after you receive the deceptive “Uwijja anywhere is fine“. No, anywhere is not fine; you’re going to have a great time, and you’ll be praised for your initiative. There’s no need to thank us, this one’s on the house.
Here are eight ideas on what you can do with your better half in Malta, along with some basic pros and cons to each. Enjoy, you lovebirds.
1. Cinema & Bowling, like the good old days
Do the double
Whether it’s a romantic comedy, horror, action, or drama, everyone can appreciate a good film. It’s a pretty standard date; get popcorn, sit down, relax and enjoy. There’s really not much to it.
Pros: You can do the classic ‘Reach into 3D logo with your hand‘ move and pretend to touch it, for a cheap giggle. If that doesn’t work, try a bit of a hand squeeze for extra romance.
Cons: No talking
You may also feel like going bowling. This could be a time to impress them with your hand eye co-ordination or just chill and try it out. Again, not much to it.
Pros: You can be as loud as you like
Cons: You have to lower your competitive edge… and wear ugly bowling shoes.
2. Late night drive
We know by this point you probably hate traffic and anything to do with the Maltese roads. But late in the evening, when there are hardly any cars, going around Malta can be really relaxing.
There are plenty of places to stop just to take in the view; Dingli cliffs will give you a super view of the stars, Fort Senglea and Birgu will both give you a breathtaking view of Valletta (and vice versa), And from Għargħur’s Top of the World you’ll be able to see half of Malta.
Pros: Positively experiencing the Maltese roads and getting a great view at the end
Cons: A car might not be the most comfortable venue for a date
3. Try out a new restaurant!
Malta is jam packed with restaurants, and new ones having popping up round every corner on a weekly basis.
Take your other half to try one one of these new restaurants. Get yourselves out of your comfort zones and try something new. Maybe some cheeky Indian, oriental Chinese, traditional Maltese, or Mediterranean Italian cuisine.
Pros: Might be great
Cons: Might be not so great, and you’ll only know when it’s too late
4. Find a dog, and take it for a walk
Everyone loves dogs.
If you have a dog already, that’s great. If you don’t, try and find one. Ask or borrow, of course.
If you can’t get your hands on one, then you can simply go for a walk. Fortunately, the Maltese evenings are pretty breezy. There are hundreds of places to go to watch sunset, and enjoy a stroll with the lad/lass of your dreams. Enjoy.
Pros: It’s free exercise!
Cons: It’s exercise
5. Go for a drink and/or hit the clubs
How can going for a drink and having a laugh not be a good time?
Just because you’ve been going our for a couple of months, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be trying anymore. Dressing up, and going somewhere nice for a drink can be refreshing and super enjoyable.
As a bonus, watch your other half get a tad tipsy and start telling you all the embarrassing secrets they’ve hidden from you.
If you’re really feeling up to it, go for a dance and hit the clubs.
Pros: It might be a fresh way of hanging out with each other (+ booze)
Cons: Waking up the next day
6. Late night swim / chilling on the beach
Hey, it’s summer after all.
Inject passion, and romance back into the relationship with a gorgeous Maltese beach.
Say nothing, buy a bottle of wine, pick up your boy/girl, and take them to the beach.
Watch the sunset, run in the water for a cheeky dip, and have a few glasses whilst relaxing on a towel. Sounds like something out of a movie? That’s because it is. And Malta makes that possible.
Pros: Very romantic
Cons: Sand. Sand everywhere.
7. Check out an exhibition
Any reason to dress up and be fancy is already great.
Fortunately for us, Malta is filled with many incredible and creative artistic entrepreneurs with a lot to offer.
Picking up bae and going to take a look at art provides you with the opportunity to both see these fantastic works of art and feel extremely posh. Win win.
Pros: You get to wear that suit/dress you’ve spent loads on and only worn once
Cons: It feels a bit stuffy in this suit, and these heels hurt
8. Check out the Luna Park
During the warm season, Manoel Island is transformed into a beautiful funfair straight out of The Notebook.
Ferris wheels, candy floss and games. This is as good as any opportunity to enjoy a romantic night straight out of the 60s.
9. Netflix and chill
Sometimes the best nights out are the relaxed night in.
We know you’ve had a hard week. It’s been over 35°C for two weeks, and you just want to relax. Order in, get in bed, put on a film you won’t watch, and cuddle your problems away.
Pros: It’s beautifully lazy
Cons: It’s lazy
