Next week, Karen Caruana, a very well-known artist in the Maltese arts scene, will be holding her first solo exhibition consisting of extremely beautiful oil paintings.

Her work gives off an ethereal and surreal feel and this is truly an exhibition not to miss. This exhibition is highly anticipated by everyone in the local art scene mainly because of Caruana’s exceptional talent and particular style. And while she's definitely made a name for herself both online and during joint exhibitions, Caruana had actually never held her very own exhibition.

"We honestly cannot wait for this exhibition to open."

The theme was selected by Karen Caruana and Sabrina Calleja Jackson, the curator of this highly anticipated exhibition.

It will be focusing on how change and loss affect us both directly and indirectly. Some of the work will also be focusing on how we as human beings process certain changes and losses in our lives and surroundings.

Traditional Struggles

“The work is figurative, yet a bit surreal," Karen told Lovin Malta.

"It showcases a simple form of architecture that is being forgotten in today’s modern construction while through nostalgia, expresses a wish to stay in a more favourably perceived past and a direct sensitivity towards a questionable future We honestly cannot wait for this exhibition to open."

The news that Karen would finally be officially arriving onto the local scene was very received by dozens of people who have been singing her praise in the last couple of years, no doubt helping to add hype to next week's exhibition launch.
