It’s the first weekend of spring, and although the weather in Malta hasn’t been the best, who cares? Make the most of it by filling up your calendar with interesting events that we have sourced especially for you!

Friday 22nd March
1. Launch of the Valletta Film Festival Weekend

The Valletta Film Festival starts today and you’ll be able to see six special film documentaries from different genres.

2. An oil painting exhibition

Marvel at a collection of oil paintings by the American artist SJ Fuerst.
Inspired by fashion, pop art, and popular culture, SJ Fuerst’s paintings are showcased worldwide, and as of tonight, they’ll be available to view in Sliema.
3. An internet wonder boy is back
“Internet wonder boy” 1-800 Girls will be returning to Malta tonight for a special performance at San Ġwann’s legendary Liquid club.
The masterminds behind the night, Midnite Snack have quickly climbed the fun-party-organising ranks in recent months, with last week’s Peach extravaganza being widely successful. This one’s guaranteed to be an intimate, sold-out beaut.
Saturday 23rd March
4. A fitness-inspired disco pop club night

LOLLIPOP are back with with another massive monthly bash, and this time, they’re heading to the legendary Sky Club for a fitness-inspired club night. Hosted by Tamara Webb and our favourite drag queen Tolqueen, it’s time to get your fitness swag ready to get fizzycal!
5. An eco friendly fundraiser with canapés and vino

Eco Market Malta and Wasp. have joined forces to bring you an eco friendly fundraiser. You’ll be able to meet local change makers and nab some stuff from local artisans.

6. A bottomless brunch party

A brunch party is being hosted at Chophouse in St Julian’s. Expect booze, a banging brunch menu and DJs spinning some funky tunes.

7. A stand-up comedy drag show

This weekend is the last chance to see Tolqueen’s (AKA Chucky Bartolo) brand new, one-woman, comedy show at Mater Dei. And hey; head on down with the starlet for Lollipop straight after!
8. A book signing session with Malta’s exiting president

As President Marie Louise Coleiro-Preca reaches the end of her term, she’s releasing a biography titled Riflessjonijiet tal-President that’s all about the lessons she’s learnt and observations she’s made throughout her illustrious career so far.
To celebrate the launch, you can meet the President during two book signing sessions this weekend: on Saturday March 23rd from 11am to noon at the Grandmasters’ Palace in Valletta, then Sunday March 24th from 10am to noon at the Banca Giuratale in Victoria, Gozo.
Sunday March 24th
9. A jazzy and foodie wine tasting afternoon

CRU are organising an event which includes live jazz and an exquisite wine tasting with tons of finger food and nibbles to match with every glass.
10. A Sunday evening club night with drink deals

Truth Sundays are pretty popular among club-goers, and this Sunday’s party kicks off early at 5pm.
Expect a well-known DJ line up and 2-for-1 on Jack Daniels, Stoli & The Famous Grouse bottles until 6PM.
11. A vintage car festival

Head over to Gozo for the FMVA Vintage Motor Festival.
You’ll all meet at 7:30am to board the 8:15am ferry to Gozo, and show participants will exhibit their vehicles and are encouraged to showcase the oldest cars they have in their collection.
