A Marine, A Beatles Fan, And A Loving Father: Nicolas Galea Shares His Story On TVM

Nicolas has led a vibrant and adventurous life, spanning the globe and exploring diverse careers. He served as a Marine in the US, where he met his wife, Pamela. Later, he ventured into the corporate world, working for Siemens in the UK. Along his journey, he crossed paths with intriguing individuals, including the renowned Italian footballer Pietro Anastasi, who once visited his home (for more, tune in to Marelli on TVM every Saturday at 9pm).
Nicolas and Pamela welcomed their son, Lennon John Galea Corse, into the world, destined to share his birthday with John Lennon, the iconic Beatles singer. They chose to honour their musical hero by naming their son after him because they were devoted Beatles fans.
Nicolas and Pamela love their son unconditionally and cherish every moment they spend with him. Nicolas recalls how Lennon sometimes takes his hand and kisses it, showing his affection in his own way. He also admits that he feels sad when he sees Lennon struggling to express himself or to do simple tasks. Pamela agrees that it was hard to accept the diagnosis at first, but she has learned to cope with it over time.
They are not alone in their journey, however. They have the support of ALS Malta, an organisation that helps people with neurological conditions and their families. ALS Malta was founded by Bjorn Formosa, who suffers from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive disease that affects the nerve cells that control voluntary movement. Bjorn is a friend and a hero to Nicolas and Pamela, who describe him as an “angel sent from heaven”. Bjorn has helped them by providing them with equipment and services for Lennon, such as a wheelchair, a communication device, and therapy sessions.

On the 24th of September, Nicolas and Pamela will be participating in a fundraising marathon organised by ALS Malta. The aim of the marathon is to raise money for DAR Bjorn Respite, a project that will provide respite care for people with neurological conditions and their families. You can help them too by donating to this noble cause.
