Nothing says spooky quite like Friday the 13th. The night is forever etched as the unluckiest and scariest night of the year, with all our superstitions, nightmares and phobias coming out to play.

And this year’s spookiest day of the year just got a whole lot spookier.

This September Friday the 13th will also sync up with a full moon, and you know what that means. Your werewolf friend in disguise will unleash his inner beast and take to the streets of Valletta to prey on the innocent.

If you’re like me and enjoy getting spooked but don’t want to be attacked by a hybrid wolf-like creature on a night out, then you can still enjoy celebrating Friday 13th by catching these creepy films over at City Lights in Valletta.

1. Split

Split follows a man with 23 different personalities who kidnaps and imprisons three teenage girls in an isolated underground facility. They must try to escape before the apparent emergence of a frightful new 24th.

Showing: Upper Cinema Bar – 6 pm

Crystal Lake’s history of murder doesn’t deter counselors from setting up a summer camp in the woodsy area. Superstitious locals warn against it, but the fresh-faced young people pay little heed to the old-timers. Then they find themselves stalked by a brutal killer…

Showing: Upper Cinema Bar – 8:30 pm

3. A Clockwork Orange

In the future, a sadistic gang leader is imprisoned and volunteers for a conduct-aversion experiment… but it doesn’t go as planned.

From thunderstorms to a full moon, Malta is truly having a creepy week and these movies are set the perfect tone for the creepy evening.
