British Indie Icons James Coming To Malta This June To Rock Your Socks Off
One of rock's most enduring bands are going to take you through some of their biggest hits just before summer
Don't look now, but one of the most influential bands in British indie is coming to Malta for an unforgettable show.
James, the triple platinum Mancunian band behind hits like 'Come Home' and 'She's a Star', will be performing at Aria Complex on the 12th of June, courtesy of Rock'N Malta.
Having influenced everyone from The Smith's Morrissey and Johnny Marr with their 'Jimone' EP, released in 1983, they've gone on to change the modern indie scenes in ways we'll never truly know.
Rock’N Malta’s 12th June gig at Aria Complex will bring James' thundering, body shaking loud tribal drum beats, as well as earlier hits and songs from their 15th studio album, aptly titled ‘Living In Extraordinary Time', while supported by a local band.
"It is therefore our absolute pleasure to host James as the standard bearers of the ‘alternative’ genre of rock," Lou Bondi, Artistic Director of Rock’N Malta, commented. "Many bands have labelled themselves as such yet most end up falling into two categories."
"There are those who remain alternative and slowly descend into obscurity and those who sell out and become mainstream," Bondi continued.
James are one of the rare bands who have withstood the test of time, achieving mainstream success while staying true to themselves
Among numerous accolades, their most recent album, 2016’s ‘Girl at the End of the World’ debuted at number two in the UK album charts.
In total, they have sold more than 25 million albums worldwide, including their 1998 ‘Best Of’ which was a UK number one and went triple platinum. James’ reputation as a uniquely transcendent live act is well-earned, having headlined festivals from Glastonbury in 1992 to Festival No.6 in 2015.
James, made up of Tim Booth (Vocals), Adrian Oxaal (Lead Guitarist), Jim Glennie (Bass guitar), Saul Davies (Violin, guitar and percussion), Mark Hunter (Keyboards), Dave Baynton-Power (Drums) and Andy Diagram (Trumpet) have achieved timeless longevity attributed to their constant process of renewal and reinvention.
James is the latest addition to Rock'N Malta's stellar line-up for 2019
Rock’N Malta is responsible for bringing over some of the most celebrated foreign artists from various rock genres to the island. As the rock hub of Festivals Malta, it also provides a platform for local talent in the field.
Rock’N Malta produces the concerts in partnership with NnG Promotions, and were behind some of the coolest concerts in recent years, including Kaiser Chiefs, The Hives, The Boomtown Rats with Bob Geldof, The Wailers, Gogol Bordello, Julian Marley, Procol Harum, Lacuna Coil.
2019 is looking like a similarly huge year for the rock promoters, with James now joining the likes of recently-announced Dream Theater.
