Calling All Programmers: The First Ever ‘Hackathon’ Is Coming To Malta This Weekend
For the first time ever, a Raspberry Jam is coming to Malta this weekend.
If you’re confused as to why we’re talking about fruit and not computers, here’s some context. A Raspberry Jam is another name for a hackathon, which we’ll admit sounds way cooler. It’s a gathering for people who love computer programming and digital making in general, and it’s all got to do with the mini-computer that has revolutionised education around the world, the RaspberryPi.
The two-day event, which will be celebrating the iconic computer’s sixth birthday, will also see the launch of MaltaPi. The country’s first community of all things RaspberryPi, MaltaPi will be hosting a set of workshops for all ages over the weekend.
Meeting at the Vintage Computer Club in Attard, the MaltaPi is inviting people to make, code, tinker, hack and play with all the devices on show. The event is also open to anyone who wants to exhibit and bring along their own creations, even if they don’t actually use RaspberryPi.
Malta’s first Raspberry Jam is completely free, open to all ages and volunteer-driven. “Everyone is welcome to drop in, help out or learn about coding and making cool stuff,” the organisers told Lovin Malta.
