5 Christmas Markets Around Malta You Need To Visit This Festive Season

No matter how much we pray, we’re never really going to see the white Christmas dream Hollywood has sold us – but that doesn’t stop us from doing everything we can to feel the Christmas spirit (even if it means sweating through our knitwear in Black Friday queues).

But if you really want to experience a surge of Yuletide joy, then Christmas markets are the perfect solution for you.

1. Malta Artisan Christmas Market

Date: 3rd – 4th December

Hosted just below Valletta’s bastions, this market will see over 50 stalls selling authentic arts and crafts, ceramics, candles, woodworks, hand sewn goods, filigree, jewellery & accessories, knitwear & crochet as well as Christmas treats… all of which are made locally.

2. Natalis Notabilis

Date: 7th – 11th December

This Christmas market will see the historic streets of Rabat lit up to celebrate the holiday season. All their stalls are booked up and will be selling everything from traditional Maltese imbuljuta, to artisinal crafts and perfect Christmas gifts.

3. San Anton School Christmas Market

Date: 27th November

San Anton School will be pulling out all the stops again this year as they prepare for their annual Christmas celebration. Here you’ll find traditional decorations, gift-wrapping, home accessories. giftware, jewellery, wooden toys, advent calendars, Poinsettia and Holly plants… and most importantly mulled wine!

There’s even a Santa’s Grotto to keep the kids happy.

4. Lola’s First Christmas Market

Date: 3rd – 4th December

Villa Lija will be transformed into the winter wonderland that is surely going to make your children’s dreams come true. And if you’re all grown up, well it’s time to let your inner child have some fun! They’ll have handmade ornaments and toys, as well as gourmet food for adults and kids alike!

5. Pjazza Tigne Christmas Market

Date: 7th – 28th December

Located just outside The Point, Sliema, this Christmas market will run for a whopping 20 days and could be the perfect place to take a break from your hectic Christmas shopping.
