Destaged Dance Brings Emotional Triple-Bill Performance ‘PLIGHT’ To Gozo

Destaged Dance is set to mesmerise audiences with “PLIGHT”, an intimate and immersive triple bill of contemporary dance that explores life’s most challenging moments through a deeply personal lens.
The production features three distinct works, each revealing a different side of the human experience:
- “Ara Naqra” – A danced installation examining a common social practice, with performers confined to their space while the audience surrounds them, blurring the line between spectator and participant.
- “The Mother in Me” – A contemporary dance interpretation of Maleficent’s story, exploring the dark complexities of her relationship with Aurora and the forces that shaped her fate.
- “The Day You Were Not” – A moving journey through grief, offering a raw and emotional reflection on loss and healing.
The title “PLIGHT” ties the three works together, highlighting the artist’s own journey over a decade of personal and artistic growth. Audiences can expect a performance that not only challenges and engages but also fosters a deeper connection between dancers and spectators.
Performances will take place on 24th and 25th October at the New Sir Arturo Mercieca Primary School Hall in Victoria, Gozo. Tickets are free, but booking is required via [email protected].
Sponsored by The Cultural Heritage Directorate, with support from The Gozo College and Teatru tal-Opera Aurora, this production promises to enrich Malta’s contemporary dance scene and offer a truly unforgettable experience.
