Malta’s had its fair share of amazing music concerts, and with every new year that arrives we wait eagerly to find out which music legend will make a stop in Malta to rock the island with their tunes.
Well this year is a whopping one for music, and these are the five main reasons why.
This awesome night of classic Beatles music is just round the corner, so you better not be slow about getting your tickets. The Beatles Philharmonic Tribute is an orchestral concert of interpretations celebrating the legendary music of The Beatles.
These guys’ first-ever star-studded concert was held at the Royal Albert Hall, but now they’re coming to MCC. Be there on the 17th-18th February!
The Italian singing trio Il Volo will be back in Malta in June for a concert called ‘A tribute to the three tenors’. For those of us less up-to-date with the tenors of the world, the ‘three’ are José Carreras, Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti.
Il Volo will be commemorating the night of July 7, 1990, when their three major opera heroes performed together at the Teatro delle Terme di Caracalla in Rome. June is going to be a good month for music concerts in Malta. Pop legend Leo Sayer playing a live concert at the MCC! If you don’t recognise the name, you’ll definitely recognise the hits: Thunder In My Heart, You Make Me Feel Like Dancing, When I Need You, Moonlighting, do we need to go on?
Leo Sayer will be performing Sunday 18th June 2017. So if you want to celebrate four decades of seriously sing-along-able music, you need to get your tickets now.
With news that the Chainsmokers will be headlining this year’s Isle of MTV, we’re already reeling in anticipation of this massive music event! This annual huge concert is adored by locals and foreigners alike, and this year is sure to deliver all the highs we’re accustomed to.
Past editions have included global acts such as Steve Aoki, Martin Garrix, Jason Derulo, Wiz Khalifa, Rita Ora, Calvin Harris, Snoop Dog & Lady Gaga to name a few, all performing in front of an audience of more than 50,000 people. Make sure you’re in the heart of the action on the 27th June at the Fossos in Floriana!
Topping it all off at the height of summer is a mega celebration for our nation’s beloved uber-talent – Joseph Calleja. 2017 marks the 20th Anniversary of Joseph Calleja’s public debut in the world of opera, so he’s teaming up with special guest Andrea Bocelli to mark this awesome occasion.
The concert will take place on the 19th August at the Granaries in Floriana, and will also include the wonderful Malta Philharmonic Orchestra and the BOV Joseph Calleja Children’s Choir. Do not delay on your ticket-buying. You know this is going to be epic!
