Experience A Modern Re-Imagination Of A Greek Classic: Euripides’ ‘Medea’ At Teatru Manoel
Teatru Manoel presents the Ancient Greek tragedy, “Medea”, as re-imagined by Ben Power and directed by Bettina Paris.
The Greek classic by tragedian Euripides dates back almost 2,500 years ago and originally portrayed the titular protagonist Medea as a vengeful and murderous she-devil.
The 2014 critically acclaimed revision by British dramaturge, Ben Power, reframes Medea’s portrayal in a more relatable manner, as a woman who desperately attempts to take control of her life following the betrayal of a man she deeply cared for.

Maltese actor and playwright Bettina Paris’ direction introduces a local familiarity to the modernised revision, highlighting themes of community, family, betrayal and retribution for Maltese audiences to relate to.
The performance will feature the creative talents of seasoned actors, Becky Camilleri as the titular Medea and Nathan Brimmer as her husband Jason, together with young actors Andre Theuma and Matthias Zarb as their sons.
This production will take place from Friday 15th to Sunday 17th November at Teatru Manoel, Valletta, starting at 8pm and running for 90 minutes.
