Free Music Festival Celebrating The 90s Returns To Għaxaq Grounds
A decade of great music, fashion and technological innovations, the 90s remain a firm favourite for people who were lucky enough to grow up in that era.
This month we can relive all those memories through the power of music at Summer Lust Music Festival which is taking place on the 19th and 20th May in Għaxaq grounds.
Summer Lust will present a large number of international artists together with the best local talent. For the last 20 years the festival has always attracted a large audience and organisers have made sure to also give local talent the opportunity to participate in this festival.
Also this year, Għaxaq Music Events will work hand in hand with a philanthropic organisation with donations collected at the door for Dar tal-Providenza. In the last two editions, almost €35,000 were collected and donated to Dar Bjorn. The organisers will present this year’s donation during the Feast of St. Joseph in Ħal Għaxaq during the first week of June.
Nineties music opens the festival on the first night with top international artists such as DJ Sash with his 90s hits, Ecuador, Stay and Mysterious Time and Sonique with her music productions Sky, Alive and It feels So Good.
They are joined by Nineties singers Maria Nadler with her hits One is One and Naked and Sacred and Kirsty Hawkshaw with her hits Just Be and Fine Day. Summer Lust 90’s Edition will also feature top Maltese DJs Ryan Spiteri and Tenishia. A magical night is guaranteed with top artists, stage effects and dancers.
The hardcore Pink Floyd fans out there can look forward to a real treat a day later, on Saturday 20th when The Scandinavian Pink Floyd perform again at the Għaxaq Grounds.
The group, known for its spectacular shows, is considered one of the best tribute bands in Europe and the best tribute band in the Scandinavian countries.
They will offer a show of legendary music combined with a unique sound and light show which are synonymous with Pink Floyd. The organisers are working intensively with local and Danish technicians to ensure that they produce a show that creates the right atmosphere for this concert.
Matthew James will perform as a supporting act, while Ziggy will close the two-day festival with a final gig.
Entrance to the festival is free however VIP tickets can be purchased at www.showshappening.com
Additional information will be posted on Għaxaq Music Events official Facebook page in the coming weeks. It is also worth mentioning that allocated parking will be available.
Such a festival offers not only a music show, but also promises great light shows and other effects, which together make an unforgettable evening for all participants. The festival is organised in collaboration with the Malta Arts Council.
Minister for Culture Owen Bonnici praised the commitment and energy of the organisers and reiterated that the government is committed to continuing to help them achieve success in their activities.
“This association works with a great sense of volunteerism so that the Maltese and Gozitan people can enjoy two concerts of a very high level. We are giving space to local artists where, through a platform, they will be able to show their talent and join international artists in order for their talents to flourish,” he said.
