Film-tastic! The Gozo Film Festival Is Here With Some Amazing Flicks From The Maltese Islands And Beyond
Get ready to bear witness to one of the most cinematic events in Gozo this summer: the Gozo Film Festival is back to celebrate the art and work of local and foreign filmmakers alike and it’s got some great movies lined up.
Following the success of the first two years, The Gozo Film Festival is back for its third edition and this year is bigger than ever with a whole new section dedicated to children sessions and filmmaking workshops.
The program this year has something for everyone, including three international features movies with a Maltese connection…
Pulp – Friday 23rd at 9:20 pm
Topping off the Friday is a comedy, crime-drama filmed in Malta back in 1972 and features a young Michael Caine.
Limestone Cowboy – Saturday 24th at 10 pm
Saturday’s highlight is a Maltese favourite, Limestone Cowboy. A whirlwind adventure into delusion loosely based on real events by first-time director Abigail Mallia, the film is in both Maltese and English but will be feature English subtitles.
Wickie the Mighty Viking – Sunday 25th at 9:15 pm
Ending the festival is a children’s movie by German filmmaker Michael Bully Herbig. Some scenes were filmed in Gozo and although the original movie is in German, this version will be in English.
The Gozo Film Festival will also include a wide variety of short movies and documentaries produced by Gozitan, Maltese and International filmmakers.

Always Hope (2019)
Always Hope is a short documentary on marine wildlife filmed by Oceanvisions based in Gozo.
Marbut (2018)
Directed by Winston Azzopardi, Marbut is a story about a would-be groom who gets abducted on his way to his wedding.
Always Remember Me (2018)
Based on true events, a young woman confronts her past at her childhood best friends seventh birthday party… but her best friend has been dead for 18 years. Always Remember Me was directed Nell Teare from the United States.
The Sunday is also dedicated to kids with a 9:30 am movie/workshop screening followed by an improvised film making workshop for teenagers at 11 am.
