This Halloween, Esplora Interactive Science Centre is inviting families to dive into the spooky side of science with its brand-new programme: Haunted Hospital.

Set inside the historic grounds of the former Royal Naval Hospital, the experience blends eerie storytelling with hands-on workshops, turning creepy fun into an unforgettable educational adventure.

From 1st to 5th November, kids and families can explore how the human body senses, reacts, heals and protects itself stepping into the shoes of scientists, doctors, or even white blood cells for the day.

Expect interactive highlights like:

Wired Up – tracing nerve signals through the body
What Lurks Beneath – revealing hidden germs with UV light
The Mystery Hospital Files – diagnosing strange 1950s medical cases
Acid Attack – discovering the body’s pH balance
Anatomy at War – a WWII field hospital-inspired session examining real organs

Little ones can also  join a First Aid Workshop with safe sensory play, exploring “blood” and “organs” to learn health basics through play. Other hands-on activities include Build-a-Bone, Red Alert! Germ Hunters and the main show: Our Body Under Siege.

Launching the programme at Esplora’s Cot Lift, fully transformed with haunting hospital vibes, Parliamentary Secretary Keith Azzopardi Tanti praised the initiative for making science exciting, while Senior Director Mary-Ann Cauchi highlighted how Halloween is the perfect chance to blend theatre, storytelling, and STEAM learning, with the support of the Deputy Director, STEAM Engagement, Kiki Mizzi.
