Your Ultimate Guide To What’s On This Independence Day In Malta And Gozo
Drumroll please: it’s another long weekend courtesy of one of Malta’s numerous public holidays! Here’s a number of things you can do on Jum l-Indipendenza to kick off your weekend in style.
1. Get the creeps on in Malta’s Silent City
Mdina After Dark — Legends and Mysteries
Ghost tours have become all the rage lately, so why not spend your evening learning about the local spirit world? Mdina will be hosting a candle-lit ghost hunt where you will be taken around the city and scared out of your wits.
2. Visit a Cottonera palace for free
Inquisitor’s Palace Open Day
The Inquisitor’s Palace in Birgu will open its doors to the public for free this Friday. Guided tours will begin at 10:00 in Maltese and 14:00 in English, and the palace will be open between 09:00 and 17:00 with last admission at 16:30.
3. Listen to live folk music
Qala International Folk Festival
The 13th edition of the Qala International Folk Festival is a weekend full of music, traditional food and folk dancing. The event will kick off on Friday at 20:00 where you will be offered an intimate setting in the lovely village of (you guessed it) Qala, Gozo.
4. Show off your freaky dance moves
B E W Y L D
If you’re a music fan, this mini-festival is the thing for you. This two-day festival is offering a platform for local and foreign acts such as Sunta, Nabihah Iqbal, Nicky Slim, Bark Bark Disco and YEWS.
5. Sit back and enjoy Pjazza San Ġorġ
Malta Military Tattoo
Starting this Friday, the Military Tattoo at St. George’s Square in Valletta will run for a total of three days. The 15th edition of this popular show will feature performances by the Malta Police Force and the Armed Forces of Malta.
